DeMarcus Ware's back troubles are flaring up again.
The Denver Broncos' star linebacker was held out of practice again on Tuesday after missing the first set of organized team activities last week.
"Same thing. Back is bothering him," coach Gary Kubiak explained. "... I don't know how much you'll see him in OTAs. I hope we get a few in before we call it for summer, but there is no reason to rush him out there."
The 33-year-old restructured his contract in March, with the understanding that he would close out his NFL career as a pass-rushing specialist, limiting the wear and tear on his back.
After battling back and neck issues earlier in his career, Ware missed five games due to back woes late last season. Although he was eased back into the lineup in December, the four-time All-Pro was a terror in the postseason, racking up 3.5 sacks, eight QB hits and 11 QB hurries in three games.
Kubiak will continue to play it cautiously to give Ware his best chance of recapturing that form by the 2016 stretch run.
