The arraignment of Alabama offensive lineman Cam Robinson on charges stemming from his arrest last month has been postponed. A new arraignment date has not yet been set, according to the Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court's office.
Robinson, considered one of the elite offensive tackles in college football, was arrested along with teammate Laurence "Hootie" Jones in their hometown of Monroe, La., last month. Robinson was charged with illegal possession of stolen firearms, a felony, as well as possession of a controlled dangerous substance and illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of narcotics.
Robinson has started at left tackle for the Crimson Tide since his freshman season. NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt has compared Robinson favorably to Miami Dolphins first-round pick Laremy Tunsil, while analyst Chad Reuter ranked him the No. 13 player in the game earlier this year. He could be eligible for either the 2017 or 2018 NFL Drafts, depending on whether he applies for early draft eligibility.
Alabama coach Nick Saban told USA Today this week that he will allow the legal system to run its course before determining consequences for Robinson where his football career is concerned. He also said there have been no disciplinary issues with Robinson prior to the arrest.
Jones drew charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of narcotics.
