Brandon Marshall has his quarterback in the building and apparently is feeling bullish about the new season.
The Jets wide receiver issued a challenge on Instagram on Thursday morning, offering a Porsche to fellow wideout Antonio Brown if Marshall doesn't have more receiving yards than the Steelers All-Pro this season. If Brown takes the bet and loses, he must hand over the latest Rolls Royce he's been taking to Steelers camp.
On the surface, this is not a good wager for Marshall. He had the season of his life in 2015 and still fell more than 300 yards shy of Brown's AFC-leading 1,834 receiving yards. Nobody in football is piling up numbers like Brown right now, a reality that places Marshall's Porsche in peril. If that's even Marshall's car -- Porsche is a sponsor of the Jets this season and the vehicle in the video certainly looks like a model parked in front of team headquarters.
No matter. Surely Marshall could produce a new Porsche in defeat. TMZ Sports reached out to Brown, who didn't seem to be taking the challenge too seriously.
"He don't really wanna do that," Brown said. "He just wants some PR. He too old to be doing that."
Added Brown: "The RR is about $100k up (from the value of the Porsche). ... If he's really serious, call me ... I'll gladly accept. Don't Internet it."
And that concludes another episode of Rich People Stuff.
