Could the Buffalo Bills be without their top two 2016 draft picks when the season opens?
Second-round linebacker Reggie Ragland went down during Friday's practice with a non-contact knee injury while chasing down running back Reggie Bush.
The Bills are unsure of the extent of the injury, but coach Rex Ryan said he's "very concerned," per WKBW's Joe Buscaglia.
Ryan's concern is foreboding.
Rex added that Ragland's injury "looked odd" because he wasn't hit. "But sometimes those can be the worse ones," he said, via ESPN.
The coach said Friday he didn't believe the injury involved ligament damage. On Saturday, Ryan walked back on that optimism, saying he was being "hopeful" and the team will wait until swelling went down.
An MRI on Ragland's knee proved to be inconclusive, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday, per a source informed of the injury. Ragland is seeing more doctors and getting a second opinion Monday.
The hammer-head linebacker was slated for a big role in the Bills' defense and could wind up being a steal in the second round.
Buffalo is already without first-round pick Shaq Lawson to start the season after the pass rusher underwent shoulder surgery earlier this offseason. Rapoport delivered more bad news for Bills 'backers: Kevin Reddick will miss time with an MCL sprain.
After a down season for his defense in 2015, Ryan's early plans for revamping his defense are being stymied by injuries.
