NFC South headlines group of best offensive divisions in 2016

In 2015, two teams from both the NFC South (New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and West (Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks) ranked in the top five in total offense, arguably making them two of the most explosive offensive divisions in the league. But a new chapter has begun as we head toward the kickoff of the 2016 campaign, and a lot of changes have been made to NFL rosters -- from retirements to draft selections and offseason signings to suspensions.

As we survey the offenses of all 32 teams, which is the best offensive division in 2016?

When talking about dynamic offenses, you have to start with the unit led by 2015 league MVP Cam Newton. The Panthers led the NFL in scoring last season -- and that was without star receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who now is back in the fold.

Going through the rest of the NFC South ... Saints QB Drew Brees is one of the best at moving in the pocket and throwing the ball downfield, as the only signal caller in history to boast multiple 5,000-yard seasons. The Falcons have always been a team that can rack up yards and points with quarterback Matt Ryan. Mohamed Sanu, acquired in free agency, will be a fine complement to Julio Jones. Atlanta should be have a good, balanced offense, with Devonta Freeman and the run game. At the bottom of this division, the Buccaneers aren't too shabby. QB Jameis Winston is coming into his own and has a lot of weapons to work with, and Doug Martin re-signed after a stellar season. The AFC East is loaded with good offenses. Even with Tom Brady missing four games, we all know the Patriots are going to lead the NFL in some offensive category by season's end. In 2015, Buffalo ranked No. 1 in rushing, and I think Bills OC Greg Roman is the best run-game coordinator in the NFL. In addition, Tyrod Taylor should build on his 2015 performance.

Getting Ryan Fitzpatrick back is huge for the 
New York Jets, especially after he threw a franchise-record 31 touchdowns a season ago. 
Eric Decker and 
Brandon Marshall comprise 
one of the best WR duos in football, especially in the red zone, while 
Matt Forte will make big waves in the run and pass game. In Miami, Adam Gase can take this team a long way. After all, he once commanded an offense that threw for 55 touchdowns in a season. (Yes, it was with Peyton Manning at QB, but still -- 55 TDs is a stunning figure.) 

The most talented division is the NFC East. Dallas could have the best offense in the NFL, with a cast of enticing weapons ( Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, Ezekiel Elliott) behind a great offensive line. Washington had a solid showing last year and will probably build on that. The Eagles still have some explosive players with Darren Sproles, Sam Bradford and Jordan Matthews. Then, the Giants have a very talented receiving group, which gets the ball from two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning. It's hard to not choose the NFC South here. Carolina is going to be physical and diverse again this season. This is a team that ranked second in rushing in 2015, had the league MVP in Cam Newton AND will reap the benefits of top receiver Kelvin Benjamin's return. I think Matt Ryan will have a good season, with Julio Jones, Mohamed Sanu and Devonta Freeman at his side. Kyle Shanahan will have this Atlanta offense clicking in his second season as offensive coordinator.

The Saints are always problematic because Sean Payton is arguably the best play caller in football. He puts Drew Brees in position to attack, and we've seen the results throughout their time together. That division rounds out with a Tampa Bay squad that is on the upswing. I think the AFC North has two of the most explosive offenses in the NFL. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals have seasoned quarterbacks in Ben Roethlisberger and Andy Dalton. The Ravens have talent and are capable of putting up big numbers, but health is an issue. I'm also eager to see if Hue Jackson can rejuvenate Robert Griffin III's career and get the Browns to the next level. All four NFC South teams attack their opponents differently, but they do have one thing in common: They continually put up points. This division showcases very talented quarterbacks -- from Cam Newton to Drew Brees, Matt Ryan and Jameis Winston -- and skill players. I don't think another division can compare from top to bottom.
