Devon Allen places fifth in Olympic finals in 110-meter hurdles

Oregon wide receiver Devon Allen qualified for the finals of the men's 110-meter hurdles at the Olympic Games in Rio Tuesday with a time of 13.36.

The top two times in each of three heats, plus the next best two times, qualified for the finals. Allen finished third in Heat 3, but his 13.36 clocking was the best among those who didn't finish in the top two of each heat. The finals are scheduled later on Tuesday night.

Allen qualified for semifinal competition Monday night with a clocking of 13.41 seconds after a rain delay.

UPDATE: Allen finished fifth in the finals of the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.31.

Despite the immediate attraction of a pro track career, Allen told College Football 24/7 before going to Rio that he intends to return to the football field for the Ducks this fall. Hampered by a knee injury last year, he caught just nine passes in 2015 after a 41-catch season the previous year.

NFL Media analysts Lance Zierlein and Daniel Jeremiah see encouraging signs in Allen as an NFL draft prospect.
