Josh Gordon thrives as RGIII deep threat in return

Josh Gordon is back in a major way.

On the same day that reports emerged that the Browns had valued Gordon's trade compensation as a second-round pick, the wideout proved that he was worth that, and then some.

Gordon embarrassed Tampa Bay's secondary in the first half Friday night, hauling in two Robert Griffin III bombs over and past veteran cornerback Brent Grimes.

The first was the product of Gordon turning Grimes around and finding open space down the sidelines for a 44-yard gain on Cleveland's opening drive. Gordon was too open for RGIII to miss, even if the quarterback did lead him out of bounds.

The latter reception saw Gordon simply outmuscle Grimes in the end zone and high-point Griffin's high-arching pass. Gordon's strong hands corralled the ball over the corner and earned him his first touchdown since his return from suspension.

Gordon finished with those two catches on two targets for 87 yards. He did not play in the second half.

With the Browns' secondary resembling a rusty sieve on the other side of the ball, the entire city of Cleveland might be best off hibernating through the entire month of September, only to emerge confident and well-rested right around Gordon's return from his four-game suspension in Week 5.
