FSU defensive back Derwin James left the Seminoles' game against Charleston Southern with a left knee injury Saturday, and will not return.
James delivered a hit along the sideline and came up favoring his knee, according to the Orlando Sentinel, with the Seminoles leading 42-6 in the third quarter. He was taken to the locker room on a cart.
The school confirmed he would not return to the game, and an MRI has been scheduled, according to ESPN. Fisher said FSU's starters were to have played two series in the second half before giving way to reserves.
"You can second-guess yourself all day, but that can happen walking down the street," Fisher said.
College Football 24/7 rated James the No. 19 player in the nation after a sensational freshman season in 2015. An ACC coach has said James could be a better player than former FSU star Jalen Ramsey, who was selected No. 5 overall in the NFL draft this year by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
