Jets' Marshall on injury scare: 'I thought it was over'

New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall briefly exited Thursday's 37-31 win over the Buffalo Bills after suffering a slight knee sprain before returning to the field about 15 minutes later.

Marshall walked off under his own power with a slight limp after he was brought down by the facemask following a catch early in the second quarter. Marshall's knee appeared to be twisted as he was brought down, and he appeared to be in considerable pain immediately after the hit.

He spoke with team trainers on the sideline for several minutes after suffering the injury. He then left for the locker room, but jogged back onto the field minutes later. He then re-entered the game and played the rest of the way, finishing with six catches for 101 yards.

"I thought it was over," Marshall said after the game. "I thought I'd be fishing in my backyard in Florida."

Marshall wasn't the only one preparing for the worse when he first went down.

"I thought he was down for the count," Jets coach Todd Bowles said. Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick added: "It was very scary. It didn't look good ... it was such a relief to see him get back into the huddle."
