Injury roundup: Mark Ingram expects to play Sunday

The Saints need all the help they can get to make a push for a postseason spot.

New Orleans got good news Wednesday, as coach Sean Payton said running back Mark Ingram will practice Wednesday. Ingram was evaluated for a concussion during Thursday night's loss to the Panthers and said that while he remains in the protcol, he has no symptoms and plans to play Sunday.

Ingram has only played a full season once since entering the league as a first-round pick in 2011. He's appeared in every game so far for the Saints this season, and practicing Wednesday is a good move toward him continuing the trend.

Here are some other injuries we are tracking on Thanksgiving eve:

  1. Robert Griffin IIIhas been designated as the Browns' player to return from injured reserve. The embattled quarterback hasn't played since suffering a shoulder injury in Week 1. He pracriced for Cleveland. Quarterback Cody Kessler (concussion) and offensive tackle Joe Thomas (knee) didn't practice.
  1. Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly (concussion) did not practice. Also not practicing were defensive end Mario Addison (foot) and center Ryan Kalil (shoulder).
  1. Bills wideout Sammy Watkins (foot) returned to practice in a limited capacity. Coach Rex Ryan doesn't know if his star wideout will play Sunday. "We'll know more today," Ryan said. "He feels good. We're not going to run him until his tongue is hanging out. We'll be smart with him." Watkins hasn't played since Week 2. Running back LeSean McCoy (thumb) was also limited. Wideout Robert Woods (knee) and linebacker Lorenzo Alexander (ankle) did not practice.
  1. Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski (perforated lung) was limited in practice, and his status remains up in the air for Sunday against the Jets. His quarterback, Tom Brady, did not practice and was listed with a knee injury, but NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport says Brady "should be fine" to play. Also limited in practice were tight end Martellus Bennett (ankle), wide receiver Julian Edelman (foot) and wide receiver Chris Hogan (back).
  1. The Cowboys listed wide receiver Dez Bryant (back) as questionable on Thursday, but he is expected to play. Safety Barry Church (forearm) and cornerback Morris Claiborne (groin) will not play, as expected.
  1. While rookie left tackle Laremy Tunsil suffered a shoulder injury Sunday against the Rams, the ailment is not a major one for the Dolphins offensive lineman, a source told Rapoport. There's a chance he won't play, according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.
  1. Eagles coach Doug Pederson said that defensive end Connor Barwin (bone bruise), running back Ryan Mathews (knee), running back Darren Sproles (ribs) and cornerback Leodis McKelvin (concussion protocol) all will not practice on Wednesday.
  1. Colts quarterback Andrew Luck (concussion) has officially been ruled out for Thursday against the Steelers. Scott Tolzien will start in his place. Safety Clayton Geathers (concussion) will also miss the Turkey Day contest. Cornerback Vontae Davis (ankle) and wideout Donte Moncrief (hamstring) are questionable.
  1. Ravens linebacker Elvis Dumervil (foot) is at practice. Tight end Crockett Gillmore (thigh) also returned.
  1. The Bengals designated running back Cedric Peerman to return from injured reserve. He suffered a broken arm in the preseason.
  1. Packers running back Eddie Lacy (ankle) and Sam Shields (concussion) won't make it back this season from injured reserve. Cornerback Makinton Dorleant will be activated from IR, coach Mike McCarthy said.
  1. Vikings coach Mike Zimmer expects safety Andrew Sendejo (illness), cornerback Captain Munnerlyn (ankle) and linebacker Harrison Smith (ankle) to play Thursday. Zimmer is unsure if wideout Stefon Diggs (knee) or cornerback Terence Newman (neck) will be available; Diggs is listed as questionable while Newman is listed as doubtful.
  1. Bears tight end Zach Miller was placed on injured reserve. He suffered a broken foot that ended his season.
  1. Buccaneers running back Charles Sims (knee) begins his 21-day practice window and will be eligile to return to the active roster at the earliest on Dec. 5. He is currently on injured reserve.
  1. Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters was limited in practice on Wednesday. He missed Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers with a hip injury. Wideout Jeremy Maclin (groin), linebacker Dee Ford (hamstring) and linebacker Justin Houston (hamstring) did not practice.
  1. Steelers wideout Darrius Heyward-Bey (foot), tight end Xavier Grimble (quad) and safety Shamarko Thomas (groin) were ruled out for Thursday against the Colts.
  1. Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant (shoulder, pectoral) and wide receiver Julio Jones (shoulder) will be limited in practice on Wednesday.
  1. Safety Tyvon Branch (groin) was the Cardinals' designated player to come off injured reserve and he was practice on Wednesday. This means that running back Chris Johnson's (groin) season is over, as he will remain on IR.
  1. Bears quarterback Jay Cutler (shoulder), guard Josh Sitton (ankle), wideout Eddie Royal (toe) and linebacker Leonard Floyd (concussion) didn't practice. Cutler is day-to-day, coach John Fox said.
  1. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said it's fair to say safety Earl Thomas (hamstring) and cornerback Deshawn Shead (hamstring) are doubtful for Sunday against the Buccaneers. Defensive end Michael Bennett (knee) is at least a week away as well, Carroll added.

Running back Troymaine Pope is expected back in two weeks with a high-ankle sprain, Rapoport reported.

  1. The Jets held center Nick Mangold (ankle) out of practice, while wide receiver Quincy Enunwa was limited with a neck injury.
