Jets' Richardson: Marshall 'should be embarrassed'

Can it get any worse in Jets land?

On the same day that their coach was released from the hospital after a brief stay for kidney stones, that the team was torn to shreds by their hated rivals and that an injury to Bryce Petty forced the team to revert back to Ryan Fitzpatrick for the third time since benching him, a veteran locker room spat emerged.

After the Jets' embarrassing, sad, wet 41-3 loss to the Patriots, wide receiver Brandon Marshall told reporters that the defeat was "embarrassing."

When defensive end Sheldon Richardson was alerted of Marshall's description, he retorted, per the New York Post, "He should be embarrassed."

Pressed for any reasoning behind his statement, Richardson only added, "No reason. He just should be. He knows what he did."

Reporters quickly shuffled back to Marshall for further comment, and the wide receiver was surprised.

"I'm a little caught off guard, to be honest with you guys," Marshall added. "I don't know where it's coming from. I just know there's a lot of guys in our locker room doing everything they can to lead and bring guys along. It's not always easy, especially in this environment. He's definitely a guy that I see myself in. When I was younger, totally different stories, but there's so much potential, so much growth there, so hopefully he grows."

This isn't the first locker room controversy Richardson has found himself in this year, or even this week. The end was caught on a Snapchat video using explicit language ahead of last Saturday's loss to Miami. Richardson was also benched, alongside defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, for one quarter earlier in the season for missing meetings.

J-E-T-S. Just end the season.
