The first step in Derek Carr's recovery is imminent.
The Raiders quarterback is scheduled to have surgery on his broken fibula in Los Angeles on Tuesday, a source informed of Carr's plans told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport added that the amount of ligament damage Carr suffered from the injury will determine his recovery timeline. Unfortunately for the most optimistic of Raiders fans, Carr being ready to go again by Super Bowl week is considered a long shot.
Carr's devastating injury came in the fourth quarter of Oakland's 33-25 win over the Colts on Saturday. Fourth-year quarterback Matt McGloin will take over the signal-calling duties as the Raiders embark on their first postseason journey since 2002.
