Coaching tracker: The latest on interviews, moves

Editor's note: The NFL coaching carousel is in full swing now that the regular season has come to a close. Around The NFL is here to keep you up to date with all of the latest news broken down by who is interviewing where, the latest reports on available jobs, and whose coaching future is safe or still up in the air.

But first, here's the latest from our reporters in the field:

HIRED HEAD COACHES

San Francisco 49ers

» Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan was named the head coach of the 49ers on Feb. 6, a day after Shanahan's Falcons fell in Super Bowl LI. Shanahan, who has nine years of NFL coaching experience with four teams (Houston, Washington, Cleveland, Atlanta) joins general manager John Lynch in the new regime in Santa Clara.

Los Angeles Chargers

» Former Bills interim coach and offensive coordinator Anthony Lynnhas agreed to a four-year deal to be the Chargers' new head coach, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. The Chargers agreed to terms with Gus Bradley to be their defensive coordinator, per Rapoport.

Los Angeles Rams

» The Rams have hired former Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay as their next head coach, the team announced. The Rams have agreed to terms with Wade Phillips to be the team's new defensive coordinator and named Matt LaFleur the offensive coordinator. Former Redskins defensive coordinator Joe Barry is joining the Rams' staff as the team's assistant head coach and linebackers coach. Ex-Jaguars offensive coordinator Greg Olson is taking over as the team's quarterbacks coach. Special teams coach John Fassel, who also served as the interim following Fisher's termination, will be retained in the same role.

Buffalo Bills

» The Bills have hired Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott as their next head coach, the team announced. Panthers linebackers coach Al Holcombe is likely joining McDermott in Buffalo as their defensive coordinator, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported. Secondary coach Steve Wilkshas been promoted to defensive coordinator in Carolina, Rapoport added. The Bills announced they've agreed with Rick Dennison to be the team's offensive coordinator. The also considered Chiefs co-offensive coordinator Brad Childressfor the job, Rapoport reported.

Denver Broncos

» The Broncoshave namedDolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph as their next head coach. General manager John Elway tweeted a photo with he and Joseph to announce the hiring. The Broncos offensive staff hired former Chargers head coach Mike McCoy as offensive coordinator and former Raiders OC Bill Musgrave as quarterbacks coach, the team announced Friday. Linebackers coach Matt Burke will replace Joseph in Miami as defensive coordinator. The Broncos announced that they have promoted defensive backs coach Joe Woods to defensive coordinator.

*Jacksonville Jaguars*

» The Jaguars hired interim head coach Doug Marrone as their new full-time head coach on Monday. The team also hired Tom Coughlin as executive vice president and extended general manager Dave Caldwell's contract. Both Coughlin and Caldwell are under contract through 2019. Todd Washwill serve as the Jaguars defensive coordinator, the team announced Saturday. Jacksonville has also hired Perry Fewell as its secondary coach. The team announced it added Tyrone Wheatley as the running backs coach. Keenan McCardell will be the wide receivers coach, the tem announced Friday.

HIRED GENERAL MANAGERS

San Francisco 49ers

» In a surprising move, the 49ersnamed former NFL standout **John Lynch** to fill the general manager vacancy. Lynch has no previous NFL front-office experience, but he was identified as a potential candidate for the 49ers' opening weeks ago, Rapoport reported.

Indianapolis Colts

» The Coltsannounced Sunday the hiring of Chris Ballard, the Chiefs' director of football operations, as former general manager Ryan Grigson's replacement.

FIRED

*Ryan Grigson, Colts: *Colts owner Jim Irsay announced the firing of the general manager last week. He was replaced by Chris Ballard, the Chiefs' former director of football operations.

Jeff Fisher, Rams: The Rams stunned the football world on Dec. 12, firing the long-time head coach just a few months after handing him a two-year contract extension.

Gus Bradley, Jaguars: The Jaguars didn't waste time firing Bradley after their Week 15 loss. The Chargersnamed Bradley defensive coordinator.

Rex Ryan, Bills: Two days after an embarrassing Week 16 overtime loss to the Dolphins, the Billsparted ways with Ryan, who failed in an attempt to pull Buffalo back into the postseason.

Mike McCoy, Chargers: The team fired McCoy on Jan. 1. McCoy told the San Diego Union-Tribune that he plans to be coaching in 2017. Per Rapoport, McCoy appears to be the clear target for top offensive coordinator available, as he's been mentioned by multiple teams as their OC of choice. The Broncosnamed McCoy offensive coordinator.

Chip Kelly, 49ers: The 49ers announced Jan. 1 they fired Kelly. The 49ers also officially announced the firing of general manager Trent Baalke. Kelly interviewed for the offensive coordinator position in Jacksonville, Rapoport reported.

Joe Barry, Redskins: The Redskins announced Thursday they fired the defensive coordinator. Per Rapoport, Barry will join the Rams as a defensive backs coach.

Ray Horton, Browns: The Browns have fired defensive coordinator Ray Horton and hired former Rams DC Gregg Williams, the team confirmed Sunday. The team also announced Tuesday they've let go of five assistants: Louie Cioffi (defensive backs), Johnny Holland (inside linebackers), Hal Hunter (offensive line), Cannon Matthews (assistant defensive backs) and Ryan Slowik (outside linebackers).

RETIRED

Gary Kubiak, Broncos: Kubiak announced Jan. 2 his retirement from coaching, saying "the demands of the job are no longer a fit for me."
