Chicago Bears add cornerback Prince Amukamara

The Bears aren't finished adding players.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Friday that Chicago will sign former Giants and Jaguars cornerback Prince Amukamara to a one-year deal, per a source informed of the discussions. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport adds the deal is worth $7 million.

Entering his seventh season, Amukamara played on a one-year deal with the Jaguars last season, starting 12 games and finishing the campaign as the league's 42nd-ranked cover man, per Pro Football Focus.

His Jacksonville stop came after five years in New York, where the 19th overall pick of the 2011 draft battled a laundry list of injuries but still showed moments of promise.

In Chicago, the 6-foot, 202-pound Amukamara joins a cornerback group led by Tracy Porter, Cre'von LeBlanc and Bryce Callahan. Kyle Fuller, a 2014 first-rounder, missed the entire season following knee surgery.

Amukamara will get every chance to start. If he thrives, that one-year deal could turn into something more.
