The Bears signed Mike Glennon earlier this month to be their starting QB in 2017, but the team is continuing to do its homework on the top passers in this year's draft.
Chicago is expected to hold a private workout with Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer, and had two scouts at the Fighting Irish pro day on Thursday, per The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs.
The Bears sent a contingent to the Clemson pro day last week to get a closer look at QB Deshaun Watson. The club also had at least one representative at North Carolina's pro day earlier this week, where another top-rated QB, Mitchell Trubisky, worked out.
It's no surprise that the Bears are doing their due diligence on the draft's signal-callers. Even if they don't take a QB with their top pick (No. 3 overall) after potentially mitigating their need at the position with the addition of Glennon, it's possible that at least one of the top QBs could still be available when the Bears are on the clock in Round 2 (No. 36 overall).
NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks has only two QBs -- Trubisky and Watson -- going in Round 1 in his latest mock draft, and not until picks 25 (Texans) and 27 (Chiefs), respectively.
Top QBs tend to get pushed up in the draft due to the importance of the position, but if this is the year of the QB slide, Chicago could be among the teams that gets a chance to take a top-rated QB -- perhaps Kizer -- with its second pick.
