Ego Ferguson's time in Chicago is over, but his career isn't.
Ferguson will be wearing green and gold when he next steps on a football field after being claimed via waivers by the Green Bay Packers on Monday, according to the league transaction wire.
Ferguson was waived by the Bears on Friday after appearing in just 20 games in three seasons. The former second-round pick out of LSU missed all of 2016 and played in only four games in 2015 due to shoulder and knee injuries. During his rookie season of 2014, Ferguson recorded 23 tackles and two sacks in 16 games.
Ferguson will get a second shot at making it in the NFL with the Packers, who added the defensive end as a low-risk signing with the hopes of providing depth along the line.
Other transactions news of note from Monday:
- Dion Jordan was not claimed by an NFL team on Monday, clearing waivers after he was waived by the Miami Dolphins with a failed physical designation. The former No. 3 overall pick hasn't played in an NFL game since 2014, missing the last two seasons due to suspensions for violating the NFL's policy on substances of abuse.
- The Lions signed linebacker Nick Bellore, who spent the last two seasons in San Francisco. The 27-year-old unrestricted free agent recorded 83 tackles, one sack, five pass defenses, one interception and one forced fumble in 14 games with the Niners in 2016.
- The Vikings signed quarterback Case Keenum, the team announced Monday. Keenum's deal is for one year and worth $2 million, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Friday.
- The Broncos retained exclusive rights to long snapper Casey Kreiter, center Matt Paradis and wide receiver Jordan Taylor.
