Clemson's Deshaun Watson, one of the draft's top signal-callers, will be among the players visiting the club on Thursday, per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
This comes at a time when Jaguars incumbent starter Blake Bortles, the No. 3 overall pick in 2014, is facing a crucial year that could determine whether he has a future in Jacksonville. The Jaguars have yet to pick up the 2018 option on Bortles' contract and have less than a month until the early May deadline to do so.
NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah identified the Jaguars back in January as one of the teams that needed to draft a QB this year, but he pointed to a middle-round pick as the likely route of adding competition for Bortles.
Watson is expected to go no later than early in Round 2, but the Jaguars are still interested enough to spend one of their 30 alotted pre-draft visits with the former Tigers star, who rates as NFL Network draft expert Mike Mayock's No. 2 QB in the draft.
Jacksonville holds the No. 4 pick in Round 1 and the third pick in Round 2 (No. 35).
Other top prospects visiting the Jaguars on Thursday or Friday this week, per Rapoport: Alabama DL Jonathan Allen, FSU RB Dalvin Cook, Ohio State S Malik Hooker, LSU S Jamal Adams, LSU RB Leonard Fournette, Texas A&M's Myles Garrett and Alabama TE O.J. Howard. Garrett is the favorite to go No. 1 overall to the Browns, and the other visits are all considered potential top-10 picks.
