The Buffalo Bills have another injured receiver to monitor.
The team announced second-round wideout Zay Jones sustained a knee injury during Tuesday's OTAs and did not participate Wednesday or Thursday. The injury was described as a knee sprain, and Jones is "week-to-week."
The setback comes on the day Jones signed his four-year rookie deal, per the team.
The Bills moved up in the second round of the draft to select Jones with the No. 37 overall pick, viewing him as a complement to Sammy Watkins in a shallow receiver corps. Jones set a school record at East Carolina with 399 career catches and earned 4,279 yards and 23 touchdown catches during his college career.
If the injury isn't worse than the initial diagnosis, Jones should be back by training camp. With Watkins continuing to deal with injury issues, Jones' status will be something to monitor as the summer progresses. With Andre Holmes and Corey Brown next up on the Bills' depth chart, Buffalo can't afford for their top two receivers dealing with injuries during the 2017 season.
Here are other injuries we're tracking on Thursday:
- Browns rookie Howard Wilson received some positive news. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports the cornerback's fractured kneecap (suffered last weekend) wasn't as bad as it was initially feared, according to a source informed of the situation. Wilson will not undergo surgery and his estimated recovery period is 12-16 weeks, Rapoport adds.
