Joseph: Jamaal Charles to get his shot vs. Packers

Jamaal Charles will get his shot to make the Denver Broncos' roster this weekend.

Coach Vance Joseph said Monday the running back will play "a lot" versus the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. The veteran won't play in the final preseason game.

"This is going to be Jamaal's shot to go do his thing. He knows it. He's ready," Joseph said.

Charles signed a one-year contract with the Broncos this offseason. He has sat out so far during the preseason while the team brings him along slowly. The 30-year-old tailback played just eight games the past two seasons due to knee issues.

With C.J. Anderson entrenched as the starter, Charles needs to use his one shot to prove he still has juice in the tank. He'll battle Devontae Booker (wrist injury), Juwan Thompson, De'Angelo Henderson, Stevan Ridley and Stanley Williams (claimed after Denver waived Bernard Pierce) for a spot on the Broncos' depth chart.
