Danny Trevathan will miss one less game than expected.
The Bears linebacker has had his suspension reduced by one game by appeals officer Derrick Brooks, NFL spokesperson Michael Signora announced. Trevathan had been suspended two games for violation of the league's player safety rules stemming from his hit on Green Bay's Davante Adams during the Packers' 35-14 win on Thursday Night Football.
The hit on Adams, who was wrapped up by Bears defenders prior to Trevathan arriving, caused a concussion for Adams, who ended up in the hospital. Trevathan later expressed regret for the hit, saying he didn't intend to hurt Adams.
Brooks -- a former hard-hitting linebacker who is a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Ring of Honor -- was appointed by both the league and NFLPA to rule on the matter.
Trevathan was originally allowed to return to the team on Oct. 16, the day after Chicago's game against the Baltimore Ravens, but is now eligible to play in that Week 6 contest.
