A.J. Green can't see himself leaving Cincinnati Bengals

A.J. Green is in a contract year in this, his ninth season with the Cincinnati Bengals, and the receiver is unmoved in his desire to stay in the Queen City for as long as possible.

"Cincinnati is home for me," Green told reporters Friday at his youth football camp, per Fox 19. "This is home as much as South Carolina. All I know is Cincinnati.

"I can't see myself playing anywhere else or playing in a different city. Hopefully I can be here for a couple more years. We'll see on that part."

Green is in the final season of a four-year extension signed in 2015 and is owed around $12.2 million in 2019, making him the 14th-highest paid wideout in football this year behind the likes of Allen Robinson and Adam Humphries.

He's not the only high-profile wideout seeking security this offseason. Fellow 2011 top-10 draftmate Julio Jones, with two years left on his deal, is also seeking an extension. However, whereas Jones' discussions with the Atlanta Falcons have received constant press this offseason, Green's situation with the Bengals has flown more under the radar.

Green has six 1,000-yard seasons over his eight-year career and is eighth among active players in receiving touchdowns (63).

Given Green's consistent production, it would seem silly for Cincy to let the seven-time Pro Bowler slip into free agency in 2020. But with a new regime in charge, perhaps the Bengals want to make sure Green is a long-term fit in Zac Taylor's offense.

Soon to be 31 years old, Green is also coming off a season cut short by a toe injury. The wideout told reporters that he was recently medically cleared to return to practice. Green has spent Bengals OTAs doing work off to the side.

Green and the Bengals report for their three-day mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.
