Packers waive TE Michael Roberts after failed physical

For the second time this month, Michael Roberts' journey to the 2019 season has suffered a major setback.

Less than a week after being waived by the Detroit Lions following a voided trade with the New England Patriots, the tight end was released Wednesday by the Green Bay Packers after failing a physical.

Thanks to a shoulder injury that landed him on the injured reserve list last December, Roberts has seen his career take several twists and turns in the months since. The trade between the Lions and Pats also fizzled out due to Roberts failing a physical for the same reason and now the 25-year-old has landed back on the waiver wire as he continues his rehab.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Roberts has appeared in 23 games with the Lions and has career totals of 13 receptions for 146 yards and three touchdowns.
