Ryan Shazier: 'I still want to make the Hall of Fame'

Less than two years since his severe spinal cord injury, Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier still hasn't given up his dream of returning to the NFL.

Shazier not only wants to play again, he wants to play at an elite level.

"I still want to make the Hall of Fame, still want to be the best linebacker in the NFL," Shazier said, via the South Florida Sun Sentinal. "I'm not giving up on my goals, and the doctors said don't give up on my goals, so there's no problem with me doing that. I'm just going to keep working, and hopefully I'm going to be back as soon as I can."

He has made progress in the recovery, including an impressive box jump in April, but a return is still far off. It will be two years since the injury this December.

Shazier will spend his second straight season on the Steelers' physically unable to perform list in 2019 while continuing rehab. He will also provide assistance to the coaching staff and work with the linebackers on Pittsburgh's roster.
