Duke Johnson was not without an agent for long.
Two days after moving on from his previous representation, the disgruntled Cleveland Browns running back has signed with agent Drew Rosenhaus, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported, per a source informed of the decision. ESPN first reported the news.
The Browns back parted ways with Kristin Campbell of 40 Sports & Entertainment Group before hopping to Rosenhaus, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday.
Johnson has been seeking a way out of Cleveland for the past few months and, under new representation, will still angle for a trade, Pelissero added.
The Browns' offseason decisions indicate that they will eventually move away from the fifth-year running back, who has all three years remaining on an extension signed in June 2018. Cleveland signed former NFL rushing leader Kareem Hunt in the offseason to pair with second-year stud Nick Chubb in the backfield. Hunt is suspended for the first eight games of the season, however, and if Johnson remains with the Browns, the dual-threat back is bound to play a role alongside Chubb for at least the first half of the year.
Cleveland has not expressed any interest in trading Johnson at this point. That could change around the trade deadline on Oct. 29, seven games into the Browns' campaign -- and Hunt's suspension.
A powerhouse agent in the industry, Rosenhaus most recently helped engineer Antonio Brown's trade out of Pittsburgh this offseason.
