Ben Roethlisberger is scheduled to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday regarding the rape allegations in Milledgeville, Ga., for which the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback was cleared, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
Goodell said at the league meetings last month that he planned to meet with Roethlisberger about the investigation in Georgia whether or not charges were filed.
Ocmulgee Circuit District Attorney Fred Bright announced Monday that he wouldn't press charges against Roethlisberger because of insufficient evidence stemming from a March 5 incident with a 20-year-old female college student.
Goodell and the Steelers have expressed concern about Roethlisberger being involved in this type of situation again after a woman last year filed a civil suit aginst the quarterback claiming sexual assault at a hotel and casino in Lake Tahoe.
Roethlisberger, who will be accompanied by attorney David Cornwell in the meeting with Goodell, could face discipline or sanctions despite facing no criminal charges. Goodell has used the NFL's personal-conduct policy as his guide to discipline players even though they might not have been arrested or faced trial.
The Steelers also could discipline Roethlisberger.
