Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis has 44 tackles in the 2012 playoffs, the most of any player this postseason. In the Ravens' Super Bowl run following the 2000 season, the then-25-year-old Lewis also had the most tackles of any player in the postseason, with 31.

Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 will be 12 years and six days after Ray Lewis played in Super Bowl XXXV against the New York Giants. Only Junior Seau had a longer span in his career between Super Bowls.

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis has 41.5 career sacks, the first of which came in 1996 against then-Indianapolis Colts quarterback and current San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, who later became Lewis' teammate in Baltimore in the 1998 season.

Baltimore Ravens safaty Ed Reed grew up in St. Rose, La., about 17 miles away from the Superdome. Reed has eight career postseason interceptions, most among active players. The NFL record for most career postseason interceptions is shared by Charlie Waters of the Dallas Cowboys, Bill Simpson of the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills, and Ronnie Lott of the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Raiders, all of whom had nine.

San Francisco 49ers kicker David Akers is tied with the Buffalo Bills' Scott Norwood for the third-worst regular-season field goal percentage for a kicker entering the Super Bowl since 1990. Norwood made only 69.0 percent of his kicks during that regular season -- the exact same percentage of kicks that Akers made during the 2012 season. Norwood then famously missed a 47-yarder wide right in Super Bowl XXV against the New York Giants. Norwood would be even worse the next season, making 62.1 percent of his kicks (en route to another Bills Super Bowl defeat).
