The Kurt Warner Story: Movie casting
Kurt Warner's rise from Arena League quarterback to Super Bowl MVP (with a stop as a grocery store bagger mixed in) is a story that always seemed destined for the silver screen, and that's exactly what will happen as 20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to make it into a feature film.
Seriously, what took so long?
As the NFL's resident cinephile, I've taken it upon myself to cast the Kurt Warner story. Remember, this is a work in progress. I might change my mind.

Well you can't have a great American story without casting a foreigner to play the lead. Cavill is fresh of a turn as the "Man of Steel", so a move to play the dynamic Warner doesn't seem too much of a stretch. (Associated Press)

This is kind of lazy because Kinnear already knocked it out of the park as Vermeil in "Invincible" so why not reprise the role? (Associated Press)

Seriously, reruns of "Spin City" have been ruined for me because I always see Bostwick as Martz. Plus, Martz has a nice sense of humor Bostwick could be able to bring out. (Associated Press)

Paltrow has shown that she can work wonders as the romantic lead to super hero, so I think she would be awesome as Brenda. And really, I would love to see Gwyneth rocking the early 2000s haircut Brenda made fashionable. (Associated Press)

If you haven't watched "New Girl" you are missing out on some great performances by Morris. He would have to play a bit older, but I think Morris could pull this off. (Associated Press)

Mackie is no stranger to football movies. He had a small part in "We Are Marshall", though he takes on a bigger role here as Torry Holt. (Associated Press)

Proehl was the hero of the 1999 NFC Championship Game. Evans has no problem playing a hero. In fact, he plays two different heroes in the Marvel universe as Captain America and the Human Torch. (Associated Press)

I'm not really sure if there has been anyone who tried to hold back Warner, so they'll probably have to make one up. Kind of the way they made Rudy's brothers or Dan Devine be the villains in "Rudy". We'll just go with Jon Voight as the Arena League executive (or maybe shopping market magnet) who tried to keep Warner down! (Arthur Mola/Associated Press)
