Mind-blowing stats for the San Francisco 49ers
Bill Walsh had a lasting impact on the NFL beyond his three Super Bowl wins. Find out how with these 10 mind-blowing stats for the San Francisco 49ers.

With 22,895 yards to his credit, Jerry Rice is the NFL's all-time receiving leader. But his lead on the rest of the field is staggering: The man in second place, Terrell Owens, could match his own career-best season output another four times and still come up short of Rice's total. And Owens played in the NFL until he was 37-years-old. Sorry T.O., those Allen Wranglers numbers don't count.

Bill Walsh is one of only four NFL coaches to win three or more Super Bowls despite serving as a head coach in the league for just 10 seasons. However, Walsh's greatest legacy might be his coaching tree. Entering the 2012 season, 22 of the NFL's 32 head coaches can be tied in some way to Walsh's tree -- a group that includes Andy Reid, Mike Tomlin, Sean Payton and Mike Shanahan.

Joe Montana earned the nickname Joe Cool with huge performances on the game's biggest stage, throwing 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions in his four Super Bowl appearances (all wins). Montana was named MVP in three of those four games -- so what happened in the other one? Montana "only" went 23-of-36 passing with 357 yards and two touchdowns in Super Bowl XXIII against the Bengals. Jerry Rice took home the MVP with 215 receiving yards and a touchdown, as the 49ers won 20-16.

Joe Montana hasn't been the only 49ers quarterback to thrive in the Super Bowl. In the team's six Super Bowl appearances, its signal-callers have combined for 18 touchdowns and only one interception. They had never been intercepted on the game's ultimate stage until Colin Kaepernick was picked off by Ed Reed in Super Bowl XLVII. The combined passer rating for 49ers QBs in Super Bowls is 125.4 -- higher than any individual single-season passer rating in NFL history.

Steve Young led the league in passer rating six times, tied with Len Dawson for the most in the NFL since 1932. Young did so despite getting a late start to his NFL career -- he spent two full seasons in the USFL after college, joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and then got trapped behind some guy named Joe Montana with the 49ers. Young didn't start a full 16-game slate for an NFL team until his eighth season in the league, when he was 31 years old.

The 49ers will travel 32,948 miles in 2013, more than any other team in the NFL. They are one of three teams (Chargers, Raiders) that will make the equivalent of at least one trip around the world this season -- a trek of approximately 25,000 miles.

Colin Kaepernick set the single-game record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 181 against the Packers in the divisional round of the 2012 NFL playoffs. Kaepernick had more rushing yards in the first half of that game (107) than Dan Marino had in his entire 17-season NFL career (87).

Aldon Smith has 33.5 sacks, the most by a player in his first two NFL seasons since the statistic was tracked in 1982. That's 11 sacks more than Hall of Famers Warren Sapp (12.0) and John Randle (10.5) had in their first two seasons combined.

Patrick Willis is one of 19 players in NFL history to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first six NFL seasons. Only five linebackers have ever done so and the other four all have a bust in Canton: Les Richter, Derrick Thomas, Dick Butkus and Lawrence Taylor.

Six 49ers defenders -- more than half their starters -- were named to the 2013 NFC Pro Bowl squad: Justin Smith, Aldon Smith, Patrick Willis, NaVorro Bowman, Dashon Goldson and Donte Whitner. Only the famed Steel Curtain defense featuring Hall of Famers Mel Blount, Joe Greene, Jack Ham and Jack Lambert had more defensive Pro Bowlers in a season since 1970. Those Steelers had eight defensive players picked for the Pro Bowl in both 1975 and 1976.
