Predictions for top 10 college games of Week 1
At long last, the 2014 college football season is finally here, and this time it features a new four-team playoff at the end. Per tradition, the season kicks off with a lot of potentially one-sided games -- but we have found 10 high-profile matchups that could impact the college football playoff race. CFB 24/7 experts Gil Brandt, Bucky Brooks, Daniel Jeremiah, Bryan Fischer, Chase Goodbread and Mike Huguenin have provided their predictions for each game.

Details: Saturday, 4 p.m. ET, SEC Network
The skinny: Hard to believe that at this time a year ago, it was Auburn -- not Arkansas -- coming off a winless SEC season. A year later, Auburn has the respect of a national runner-up while the Razorbacks are looking for any measure of respect at all. That will come hard-fought on the road at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Who's the best overall NFL prospect in the game? Watch Auburn WR Sammie Coates give the Arkansas secondary fits downfield. On the other side, Arkansas DE Trey Flowers will look to begin a draft campaign by harassing one of the game's most mobile quarterbacks in Nick Marshall.
Game picks:
Brandt: Auburn, 42-17
Brooks: Auburn, 38-21
Jeremiah: Auburn, 31-17
Fischer: Auburn, 37-24
Goodbread: Auburn, 24-20
Huguenin: Auburn, 40-24

The skinny: This is Louisville's first game as a member of the ACC and first game in coach Bobby Petrino's second go-round with the program. QB Will Gardner will make his first start as Louisville begins life without Teddy Bridgewater, and he needs RB Dominique Brown to produce with WR DeVante Parker on the shelf. OLB Lorenzo Mauldin is a big-time pass rusher and needs to apply consistent pressure on Miami true freshman QB Brad Kaaya. UM's offensive focal point will be TB Duke Johnson, who will be running against Louisville's new 3-4 defense. Miami's Denzel Perryman might be the best senior linebacker in the nation and should be a busy guy. Can Miami get any kind of pass rush? That has been a problem in the past few seasons.
Game picks:
Brandt: Louisville, 27-20
Brooks: Louisville, 28-20
Jeremiah: Miami, 27-24
Fischer: Louisville, 28-21
Goodbread: Louisville, 31-20
Huguenin: Louisville, 27-21

The skinny: UCF finished 12-1 last season, including wins over Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl and Penn State in the regular season. However, QB Blake Bortles and TB Storm Johnson now are in the NFL. Sophomore RB William Stanback looks to be a star on the rise, and UCF has a deep and talented wide receiver group that includes Breshad Perriman (Brett's son), Rannell Hall and J.J. Worton. NFL prospects Terrance Plummer (LB) and Clayton Geathers (SS) head UCF's defense, which must make sure strong-armed Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg doesn't take over the game. Penn State lacks proven wide receivers, though. LB Mike Hull, CB Jordan Lucas and SS Adrian Amos are the Penn State defenders to watch.
Game picks:
Brandt: Penn State, 21-17
Brooks: Penn State, 24-23
Jeremiah: Penn State, 35-24
Fischer: Penn State, 30-28
Goodbread: Penn State, 28-14
Huguenin: UCF, 20-17

Details: Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2
The skinny: The Mountaineers had a positively miserable season last year, but have an ideal chance to wash that taste away against one of the nation's premier programs. Keep a close eye on two West Virginia prospects in particular: OL Quinton Spain and FS Karl Joseph. Both will be able to put their talents on film against the toughest of competition, as Alabama's defensive line and receiving corps are two of the Crimson Tide's strengths. Tide receiver Amari Cooper, running back T.J. Yeldon, and safety Landon Collins will lead a parade of pro prospects on the Alabama sideline.
Game picks:
Brandt: Alabama, 31-10
Brooks: Alabama, 31-20
Jeremiah: Alabama, 31-10
Fischer: Alabama, 31-20
Goodbread: Alabama, 38-13
Huguenin: Alabama, 45-17

Details: Saturday, 8 p.m., ABC
The skinny: The defending national champ's opener doesn't appear all that difficult; Oklahoma State looks like a middle-of-the-pack Big 12 team. Jameis Winston will be looking for a fast start against a defense with a secondary that was torched often last season and returns just one starter. Rashad Greene, who might be the nation's best senior WR, could have a big outing. OSU needs a big game from QB J.W. Walsh, but he'll be throwing against a talented secondary headed by P.J. Williams and Ronald Darby. Will OSU find any running room vs. a D-line headed by Mario Edwards Jr.? The game is at AT&T Stadium; FSU wouldn't mind ending the season at the same place, as the national title game also will be at "JerryWorld."
Game picks:
Brandt: Florida State, 49-14
Brooks: Florida State, 38-17
Jeremiah: Florida State, 42-21
Fischer: Florida State, 44-24
Goodbread: Florida State, 41-17
Huguenin: Florida State, 49-24

Details: Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET, FOX
The skinny: A rematch of last season's Las Vegas Bowl, this game pits the Mountain West favorite at a Pac-12 contender. The Trojans are led on defense by a potential top-10 pick Leonard Williams. He'll be backed up by potential all-conference picks at linebacker (Hayes Pullard) and the secondary (Su'a Cravens) for a defense that might be one of the best in the country. Offensively, USC is paced by WR Nelson Agholor, and he'll have a tough matchup against the Bulldogs' safety Derron Smith. Don't sleep on Fresno State receiver Josh Harper. He turned in a 1,000-yard season despite having Davante Adams and Isaiah Burse seeing most of Derek Carr's targets last year.
Game picks:
Brandt: USC, 42-20
Brooks: USC, 21-17
Jeremiah: USC, 24-13
Fischer: USC, 38-20
Goodbread: USC, 20-14
Huguenin: USC, 41-21

The skinny: Anytime Boise State goes on the road against a power conference team, it is a must-watch game. BSU has a new coach in Bryan Harsin, and is looking to get back to its winning ways after an 8-5 mark last season. Boise State will likely run the ball with lead back Jay Ajayi, perhaps the top NFL draft prospect in the Mountain West. Ole Miss' defense should present a big test with players like safety Cody Prewitt and defensive linemen Robert Nkemdiche. The Rebels' offense could be one of the best in the SEC this year with QB Bo Wallace, a pair of quality RBs and WR Laquon Treadwell.
Game picks:
Brandt: Ole Miss, 34-14
Brooks: Ole Miss, 28-24
Jeremiah: Ole Miss, 28-24
Fischer: Ole Miss, 31-28
Goodbread: Ole Miss, 42-28
Huguenin: Ole Miss, 41-26

Details: What we learned
The skinny: Almost all the prospects worth watching in this game play on the offensive side of the ball. Up front, three potential future NFL offensive tackles of varying potential will make their season debuts, with Aggies left tackle Cedric Ogbuehi topping the list. Gamecocks left tackle Corey Robinson is one to watch as well, along with South Carolina right tackle Brandon Shell (nephew of Pro Football Hall of Famer Art Shell). South Carolina star running back Mike Davis could run wild against an Aggies defense that isn't expected to be very stout this season.
Game picks:
Brandt: South Carolina, 35-21
Brooks: South Carolina, 30-17
Jeremiah: South Carolina, 35-21
Fischer: South Carolina, 34-31
Goodbread: South Carolina, 30-13
Huguenin: South Carolina, 34-27

Details: Saturday, 5:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
The skinny: Georgia's star running back Todd Gurley trounced the Clemson defense last year in a losing effort. At home this time, he could easily do it again. Clemson's top prospect is defensive end Vic Beasley, who could put immense pressure on new Georgia starting quarterback Hutson Mason. Young one to watch: Georgia linebacker Leonard Floyd, who could really come into his own as a pass rusher this season.
Game picks:
Brandt: Georgia, 20-13
Brooks: Georgia, 24-21
Jeremiah: Georgia, 31-28
Fischer: Clemson, 31-30
Goodbread: Georgia, 27-17
Huguenin: Georgia, 24-20

Details: Saturday, 9 p.m., ESPN
The skinny: Both teams want to win in the same fashion -- run the ball and play tough, physical defense. LSU is as physical as Wisconsin, but has more team speed. This should be an unveiling of mega-touted LSU true freshman RB Leonard Fournette -- but don't forget that Wisconsin has mega-talented TB Melvin Gordon. Neither team looks to have a great situation at quarterback, and neither team has a proven wide receiver, either. There will be some big-time offensive linemen on display, including LSU OT La'el Collins, LSU G Vadal Alexander and Wisconsin OTs Rob Havenstein and Tyler Marz. LSU's defensive front seven looks better than Wisconsin's, but that still is a big concern for the Tigers.
Game picks:
Brandt: LSU, 24-20
Brooks: LSU, 28-17
Jeremiah: LSU, 35-28
Fischer: LSU, 20-17
Goodbread: Wisconsin, 20-13
Huguenin: LSU, 24-17
