Dallas Cowboys' Miles Austin injured in loss to Redskins

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin and cornerback Orlando Scandrick were injured during a 38-31 Thanksgiving Day loss to the Washington Redskins and did not return.

Austin suffered a right hip strain, and Scandrick broke his left hand, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. The Cowboys later confirmed that both players were out for the game.

Austin came down hard in the back of the end zone on the opening drive of the game when he took a hit from Redskins linebacker London Fletcher on an incomplete pass. Austin also had been knocked to the ground by Fletcher after an earlier incomplete pass.

Scandrick was hurt when he tried to make a tackle and was hit by teammate Anthony Spencer. Scandrick will have surgery Friday to repair a fractured bone in his left hand.
