Jimmy Johnson
Jimmy Johnson, a coach known for his swagger and sharp Texas twang, led the Cowboys to back-to-back Super Bowl titles in the 1990s. After leading the University of Miami to the 1987 national championship, in 1989 Johnson took over a Cowboy team that, under Tom Landry, was coming off three straight losing seasons. With an incredible nose for talent, Johnson – after stockpiling draft picks by trading Herschel Walker – gradually built a winner by selecting players like Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith. A sort of psychologist, Johnson had an infectious confidence and constantly preached about the importance of positive thinking. “Let the mind control the body, not the body control the mind,” he liked to tell his players. And three seasons after going 1-15, the Cowboys were 13-3. Johnson triumphantly said "How'Bout Them Cowboys" after a NFC Championship victory and two weeks later, won Super Bowl XXVII.. After winning the Super Bowl again in 1993, Johnson retired before returning to the NFL in 1996 as coach of the Dolphins, whom he coached for four years. Since the 1990s, Johnson has worked as an analyst for “Fox NFL Sunday.”
