Clinton Portis was a two-time Pro Bowl running back with the Broncos and Redskins who was the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2002. A second round draft pick out of the University of Miami, the 5-foot-11, 218-pound Portis – who gained over 1,000 yards six times in his career, including over 1,500 in each of his first two seasons – often showed up at interviews and press conferences wearing costumes. During one interview, he imitated Napoleon Dynamite, donning a curly red wig and calling himself “Dolemite Jenkins.” Other wacky characters of his own invention, often consisting of bright-colored wigs and big, silly sunglasses, included “Sheriff Gonna Getcha,” “Kid Bro Sweets,” “Inspector Two-Two,” and “Reverend Gonna Change,” whom Portis dressed up as during a Redskins’ losing streak. Portis retired with 80 total touchdowns and nearly 10,000 yards rushing.
