Warren Sapp

"If I could describe Warren Sapp, like it's a hurricane at all times." - John Lynch

Warren Sapp was one of the most dominating and intimidating players in NFL history. A high energy, big-smiling trash talker with a unique blend of speed and strength, Sapp was the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1999, led the Bucs and their league-best defense to that franchise’s first Super Bowl title in 2002, and made the Hall of Fame in 2013. The 6-foot-2, 303-pound defensive tackle, who was born in Orlando, played collegiately at Miami and was selected 12th overall by Tampa Bay in 1995. But the seven-time Pro Bowler, who had 16.5 sacks in 2000, was also controversial. In 2002, he was fined in consecutive weeks for excessive roughness and ignited a firestorm later that season when he performed a legal but violent block on a defenseless Packer that injured the Green Bay player and caused a shouting match with Packers’ coach Mike Sherman. Sapp played his last four seasons with the Raiders and retired in 2007.
