Head Coach
Tom Landry
"When he took over Dallas they weren't very good, and he made them great." - Mike Ditka
Tom Landry coached the Dallas Cowboys from 1960, the year they were established, until 1988. Wearing a fedora hat and looking stoic on the sidelines leading America's team, Landry led the Cowboys to 20 straight winning seasons. During that time, the Cowboys appeared in 5 Super Bowls, winning two of them. In terms of strategy, Landry created, perfected, or introduced many schemes to the NFL like the flex defense, the 4-3 defense – and he restructured the shotgun formation during the 1970s. Born in Mission, TX in 1924, Landry was an all-Pro player for the Giants in 1954 and was a Giants defensive coach from 1956 to 1959 before joining the expansion Cowboys. Landry is the fourth winningest NFL coach of all-time, with 250 victories.
