Don Hutson
As a Green Bay Packers receiver in the 1930s and 1940s, Don Hutson dominated the NFL like no receiver has since. Seven of 11 seasons, he led the NFL in receiving, including 1,211 yards in 1942, a season in which he caught 17 TD passes. Nine of 11 seasons, Hutson tied or led the league in receiving touchdowns. Between 1935 and 1945 the blazing-fast Hutson caught 99 TDs – three times more than anyone else and Hutson’s mark stood for nearly a half a century. Hutson, who once scored 29 points in a single quarter (4 TD, 5 extra points kicked), won MVP awards in 1941 and 1942 and was part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 1963. Beyond all the stats and accolades, though, Hudson was essentially the first modern wide receiver. He used countless moves to fake out defenders like no one before him.
