Dan Marino
Dan Marino was the most prolific passing quarterback of the 20th century. By the time he retired in 1999 after 17 NFL seasons, the Dolphins QB had broken virtually every NFL passing record: 4,967 completions, 61,361 passing yards, 420 TDs thrown. Marino, the 27th overall pick in the 1983 NFL Draft, threw for over 5,000 yards in his second season, the first quarterback ever to do so, along with 48 TDs – easily an NFL record as he won MVP. The 6-foot-4 Pittsburgh native made nine Pro Bowls, threw for over 4,000 yards six times, and posted a 147-93 record as a starter. Even after the passing revolution of the past two decades, Marino ranks fifth all-time in completions, passing yards and TDs thrown. He was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
