In 1977, on a cool Christmas Eve at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, John Madden’s Oakland Raiders, the defending Super Bowl champions, bested the Colts in a captivating Divisional playoff game. The contest was close and back-and-forth the whole way, with Oakland leading after one quarter, the Colts ahead at halftime, and the Raiders with a 21-17 edge heading into the fourth. Late in the fourth quarter, a key play occurred when, with Baltimore now ahead by 3, Raiders’ tight end Dave Casper whose nickname was "Ghost", made a spectacular over-the-shoulder grab on a 42-yard throw from Ken Stabler. The play, which would become known as “Ghost to the Post,” set up a field goal that tied the game at 31. The game would go into double overtime when Stabler, who threw for 345 yards, would find Casper for a 10-yard touchdown. It was one of three for the Hall of Fame tight end on the day, as the Raiders won, 37-31, and advanced to the AFC Championship.
