Dallas Cowboys

"I would put that team up against anybody." - Ed "Too Tall" Jones

The 1977 Dallas Cowboys under coach Tom Landry won the Super Bowl after beating their three playoff opponents by a combined score of 87 to 23. Winners of the NFC East with a 12-2 regular season record, the Cowboys featured Hall of Fame QB Roger Staubach (2,620 yards passing, 18 TD, 9 INT); wide receiver Drew Pearson, who had an all-Pro season with 870 yards receiving, and future Hall of Fame running back Tony Dorsett (1,007 yards rushing, 12 rushing TDs), who was named Offensive Rookie of the Year. Defensively, free safety Cliff Harris (5 interceptions) and defensive end Harvey Martin had all-Pro seasons. After winning their final 4 games of the regular season, the Cowboys beat the Bears, 37-7 in the NFC Divisional and the Vikings, 23-6 in the NFC Championship. Fullback Robert Newhouse threw a 29-yard TD in the 4th quarter of Super Bowl XII, all but clinching a 27-10 win over the Broncos.
