New England Patriots

The 2016 Patriots won the Super Bowl after a 14-2 regular season in which they scored 27.6 points per game and held their opponents to a league-low 15.6 points. In the playoffs, the Bill Belichick-coached Patriots beat the Texans, 34-16, in the AFC Divisional Round, the Steelers 36-17 to win the AFC Championship, and beat the Falcons 34-28 in an improbable OT thriller after trailing 28-3 in the third quarter. In that game, QB Tom Brady completed 43 of 62 passes for 466 yards and was named MVP. During the regular season, Brady led the offensive attack with 3,554 yards passing and 28 TD throws while tossing a mere two interceptions. Brady’s main target, Julian Edelman, caught 98 passes for 1,106 yards while running back LeGarrette Blount led the NFL with 18 rushing touchdowns. On defense, the Patriots got Pro Bowl seasons from linebacker Dont’a Hightower, safety Devin McCourty, and cornerback Malcolm Butler.
