The 1950 Cleveland Browns won the NFL Championship in their first NFL season, after winning the AAFC title four straight years from 1946-49. Under coach Paul Brown, the Browns ended the regular season with a 10-2 record and tied with the Giants in the American Division. After a loss to the Giants in Week 6 they rolled off six straight wins before winning a rematch with New York by an 8-3 score. In the title game, the Browns came back from a fourth quarter deficit to beat the Los Angeles Rams, 30-28, on a last-second Lou Groza field goal. Averaging 25.8 points per game and allowing just 12, the Browns were led by Hall of Fame QB Otto Graham and Hall of Fame fullback Marion Motley. Motley led the NFL with 810 rushing yards and 5.8 yards per carry. Groza, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound Hall of Famer known as “The Toe,” led the NFL with 13 field goals made and a success rate of over 68 percent.
