Chicago Bears

Set NFL record with 376 points.

The 1942 Chicago Bears regular season was among the most dominant in NFL history. The Bears won all 11 of their games, were first in the league in points (34.2 per game) and ranked No. 1 in fewest points allowed (7.6 per game). Their seemingly unstoppable offense was led by Hall of Fame QB Sid Luckman and Pro Bowl fullback Gary Famiglietti, who led the NFL with eight rushing TDs. And their defense included the Hall of Fame center Bulldog Turner, who led the NFL with eight interceptions. The only roadblock between the Bears and a perfect championship season was the Washington Redskins, who’d won the Eastern Division with a 10-1 record. In the second quarter against the Redskins at Griffith Stadium in Washington D.C., the Bears went ahead 6-0 on a 50-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by All-Pro tackle Lee Artoe. Luckman, though, threw zero touchdowns, while the Bears defense allowed scores in the second and third quarters – and Chicago lost 14-6.
