Miami Dolphins

"As the season went on, you could feel that we were doing things that no one else had done in the past." - Dan Marino

The 1984 Miami Dolphins went 14-2, led the NFL in scoring and quarterback Dan Marino re-wrote the record books by throwing for 5,084 yards and 48 touchdowns. Coached by Hall of Famer Don Shula, the Dolphins dominated their two opponents in the AFC Playoffs, beating Seattle, 31-10 and Pittsburgh, 45-28. Miami’s unfortunate luck was that the NFC’s Champion – a Joe Montana-led, Bill Walsh-coached 49ers team, went 15-1 in the regular season.  Marino managed only 1 touchdown pass in a 38-16 loss to San Francisco in Super Bowl XIX. Before then, however, Marino’s Dolphins were among the most entertaining ever. The WR trio of Mark Clayton, Mark Duper and Nat Moore combined for 32 receiving touchdowns as ten different players would catch TDs from Marino.
