Indianapolis Colts
The 2009 Colts had the league’s MVP in Peyton Manning and the NFL’s best record at 14-2, but they lost in the Super Bowl, 31-17, to the Saints. Manning, who threw for 4,500 yards and 33 TDs, led the NFL with seven comebacks and game-winning drives. Pro Bowl wide receiver Reggie Wayne caught 100 passes for 1,264 yards and 10 TDs, while the Pro Bowl tight end Dallas Clark had 1,106 yards receiving and 10 touchdown catches. The Colts started off the season, 14-0, before benching Peyton Manning with an undefeated season still in the balance. The Colts lost their final two games and got back on track in the playoffs, defeating Baltimore, 20-3 and the Jets, 30-17 in the AFC Championship. But in the Super Bowl against New Orleans, Tracy Porter returned a Manning interception 74 yards for a TD late in the 4th quarter, as the Colts were on a potential game-tying drive.
