The NFL champions in 1926 were the Frankford Yellow Jackets, who were based in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia. The Yellow Jackets went 14-1-2 and were overseen by the Hall of Fame coach Guy Chamberlin, who also played on the team. Frankford led the NFL’s 22 teams in scoring with nearly 14 points per game, and ranked second in scoring defense, allowing 2.9 on average. A pivotal game came on December 4, 1926 when the unbeaten Chicago Bears faced the Yellow Jackets. Frankford won, 7-6, on a late score and went on the win the NFL Championship two weeks later. In their 17 games, the Yellow Jackets posted shutouts in 10 of them.
