Chicago Bears

Won Championship Game 73 - 0

The 1940 Chicago Bears’ 8-3 regular season wasn’t spectacular, but their championship game was: they beat the Washington Redskins 73-0, the widest margin in NFL history. The Bears led the NFL in rushing offense with 1,818 yards, and in rushing TDs, with 16. Chicago’s best two games were its first and last of the season: The Bears walloped the Packers, 41-10 in the season opener. The final game, which was played at Griffith Stadium, was made famous by Coach George Halas’ re-introducing the T-formation to pro football, as 10 different Bears scored touchdowns. Its success in this contest helped the T-formation spread throughout the college and pro ranks. Six different Hall of Famers played on the Bears 1940 Championship, including QB Sid Luckman.
