Los Angeles Rams

California's First Pro Sports Champion.

The 1951 Los Angeles Rams led the NFL with nearly 33 points per game and 3,199 passing yards – over 600 yards more than any other team. After losing to the Browns in the 1950 NFL Championship, the Rams defeated Cleveland in 1951, despite the Browns having the league's best record. Hall of Fame quarterbacks Norm Van Brocklin and Bob Waterfield made the Pro Bowl for the Rams and threw 13 TD passes each, while future Hall of Fame wide receiver Elroy Hirsch had a spectacular season, with an NFL-best 1,495 yards receiving and 17 TD receptions. In the fourth quarter of the title game against Cleveland, Van Brocklin threw a 73-yard TD pass to clinch the championship, 24-17. It was the Rams last championship win for nearly 50 years.
