2022 NFL free agency: Latest league news from Wednesday, March 16

In the wake of Tom Brady's return from the briefest of retirements, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been restocking his supporting cast. They added a familiar face Wednesday.

The Bucs are re-signing wideout Breshad Perriman on a one-year deal, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via Perriman's agents. The veteran provides depth behind Pro Bowlers Chris Godwin and Mike Evans and free-agent acquisition Russell Gage.

Perriman has thrived in Bruce Arians' offense in the recent past, hauling in a career-high six touchdowns for Tampa Bay in 2019. He closed out the 2021 campaign with the club after spending the first half of it on the Bears' bench. The big-play receiver caught 11 passes for 167 yards and a TD down the stretch, but injuries sidelined him for the team's playoff loss to the Rams.

It was one of several absences that compromised the Bucs' bid at another Super Bowl. Their offseason activity thus far is clearly aimed at ensuring they're not shorthanded again.

Roster moves

• The Arizona Cardinals are re-signing tight end Maxx Williams on a one-year contract, per Rapoport and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The Cardinals are also signing former first-round cornerback Jeff Gladney, per Rapoport. Gladney was a 2020 first-round pick of the Vikings, but was released after he was indicted for felony assault of a woman. A jury found Gladney not guilty last week. The team also announced the release of defensive lineman Jordan Phillips.
• The Baltimore Ravens are signing pass rusher Za'Darius Smith to a four-year, $35 million deal that's worth up to $50 million with incentives, Pelissero and Rapoport reported. Smith is returning to Baltimore, where he played the first four seasons of his career prior to playing the last three with the Packers.
• The Buffalo Bills are signing pass rusher Von Miller to a six-year, $120 million deal and are signing former Buccaneers tight end O.J. Howard, Rapoport reported.
• The Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with former Browns wide receiver Rashard Higgins. They also re-signed wide receiver Brandon Zylstra.
• The Chicago Bears signed long snapper Patrick Scales and offensive lineman Lachavious Simmons to one-year extensions. The Bears announced they have released veteran linebacker Danny Trevathan. The team also announced it has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with linebacker Nicholas Morrow.
• The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed long snapper Clark Harris to a one-year contract. The team is also re-signing veteran defensive back and special teamer Mike Thomas, per Pelissero.
• The Cleveland Browns are set to release former Pro Bowl tight end Austin Hooper, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported. The Browns are re-signing linebacker Anthony Walker to a one-year deal, per Rapoport, via Walker's agents.
• The Denver Broncos announced they've signed tight end Eric Tomlinson to a one-year deal.
• The Detroit Lions announced the release of outside linebacker Trey Flowers. News of Flowers' impending release was originally reported on March 10.
• The Houston Texans are signing running back Dare Ogunbowale to a two-year, $3.3 million deal, per Garafolo.
• The Indianapolis Colts signed linebacker Zaire Franklin and defensive end Tyquan Lewis to contract extensions
• The Jacksonville Jaguars are signing former Rams cornerback Darious Williams to a three-year, $30 million deal that includes $18 million guaranteed and a max figure of $39 million, per Rapoport. The team later announced Williams' signing, along with that of wide receiver Christian Kirk, tight end Evan Engram, wide receiver Zay Jones. guard Brandon Scherff, linebacker Foye Oluokun and defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi. The Team announced it has re-signed offensive lineman Will Richardson.
• The Kansas City Chiefs are re-signing backup quarterback Chad Henne to a one-year, $2 million deal, per Garafolo.
• The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to sign defensive tackle Bilal Nichols to a two-year, $11 million deal with $9 million guaranteed, Rapoport reported. The Raiders are releasing defensive end Carl Nassib, per Pelissero. Pelissero later reported the Raiders are finalizing a three-year, $51 million deal with Chandler Jones, while Rapoport reported they're also trading Yannick Ngakoue to the Colts in a deal that includes cornerback Rock Ya-Sin. The Raiders are releasing veteran linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski, who was due $7 million, Pelissero reported. Running back Brandon Bolden is expected to sign with the Raiders, per Rapoport. Bolden formerly played with the Patriots under new Las Vegas head coach Josh McDaniels.
• The Los Angeles Chargers are signing long snapper Josh Harris to a four-year, $5.6 million deal with $1.92 million guaranteed, Pelissero reported.
• The Los Angeles Rams are tendering linebacker Travin Howard at the original-round level, which equates to a 2.54 million offer and a seventh-round pick back to L.A. if another team signs him, Garafolo reported.
• The Miami Dolphins are signing former Raiders fullback Alec Ingold to a two-year, $7.5 million max contract, per Pelissero. The team also signed linebacker Sam Eguavoen. The team is also expected to sign former 49ers running back Raheem Mostert, per Rapoport.
• The Minnesota Vikings announced they have re-signed punter Jordan Berry to a one-year contract and agreed to terms with tight end Johnny Mundt and interior offensive lineman Austin Schlottmann.
• The New England Patriots have signed defensive back Terrance Mitchell.
• The New York Giants announced they have re-signed cornerback Jarren Williams. Tight end Ricky Seals-Jones is signing with New York, per Rapoport.
• The New York Jets have agreed to a one-year deal with quarterback Joe Flacco, per the veteran's agent. The team is also signing tight end Tyler Conklin, Rapoport and Garafolo reported. Conklin spent the last four seasons with the Vikings and is coming off a season in which he had career highs of 15 starts and 593 yards receiving.
• The Pittsburgh Steelers announced they've terminated the contract of offensive tackle Zach Banner.
• The San Francisco 49ers tendered one-year contracts to restricted free agents offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.
• The Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms with cornerback Artie Burns on a one-year, $2 million deal, per Garafolo. Seattle has also agreed to terms with pass rusher Uchenna Nwosu on a two-year, $20 million deal, per Rapoport. Nwosu gets $10.5 million guaranteed on the contract. Seattle is signing former Chiefs center Austin Blythe to a one-year, $4 million deal, per Garafolo. The Seahawks are releasing defensive end Benson Mayowa, per Pelissero.
• The Tampa Bay Buccaneers restructured Shaquil Barrett's to clear some salary-cap space, per Rapoport.
• The Tennessee Titans are releasing Julio Jones with a post-June 1 designation, saving $11.513 million in 2022 cash and salary cap space, per Rapoport and Pelissero.
• The Washington Commanders got a surprising reunion after running back J.D. McKissic changed his mind and decided to return to Washington after previously agreeing to a deal with the Bills, per Pelissero. The Commanders released defensive end Matthew Ioannidis after not being able to find a trade partner, per Rapoport. Washington also cut veteran offensive lineman Ereck Flowers, safety Landon Collins and safety Deshazor Everett, and the team tendered kicker Joey Slye, per Rapoport. The team announced it had tendered exclusive rights free agents center Keith Ismael, kicker Brian Johnson and defensive end Bunmi Rotimi.

• The Cleveland Browns officially announced trades with the Cowboys and Patriots to acquire wide receiver Amari Cooper and defensive end Chase Winovich.
• The Denver Broncos officially announced they have traded to acquire quarterback Russell Wilson. The trade was initially reported on March 8.
• The Las Vegas Raiders are trading pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue to the Colts in a deal that includes cornerback Rock Ya-Sin. The Colts later announced the trade.
• The Los Angeles Chargers announced they have officially acquired linebacker Khalil Mack in a trade with the Bears. The trade was initially reported on March 10.
• The New York Jets are trading linebacker Blake Cashman to the Houston Texans for a 2023 sixth-round pick, Pelissero reported.
• The Washington Commanders officially announced its trade to acquire quarterback Carson Wentz from the Colts. Washington officially receives Wentz, a 2022 second-round pick (No. 47 overall) and a 2022 seventh-round pick (240). Indianapolis receives a 2022 second-round pick (42), 2022 third-round pick (73) and a 2023 conditional third-round pick. The trade was initially reported on March 9.
