2024 NFL Season, Week 2: Notable injuries, news from Sunday's games

Here are the injuries and news we're monitoring around the league on this Week 2 Sunday:

  • Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle B.J. Hill suffered a hamstring injury against the Chiefs and did not return.
  • Cleveland Browns wide receiver David Bell (hip) and running back Pierre Strong (hamstring) were ruled out against the Jaguars.
  • Denver Broncos defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers exited Sunday's game against the Steelers and is being evaluated for a concussion.
  • Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Jordan Morgan (shoulder) was ruled out against the Colts.
  • Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman DeForest Buckner (ankle) was ruled out after being carted off against the Packers. Defensive end Laiatu Latu (hip) was ruled out.
  • Jacksonville Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby (shoulder) and Andre Cisco (groin) did not return against the Browns.
  • Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert told reporters that he underwent X-rays after Sunday's game against the Panthers, per The Athletic. Herbert, who did not miss a play, said he "got rolled up" on in the second half and will know more about his status in the coming days. Linebacker Junior Colson (hamstring) did not return against the Panthers.
  • Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp suffered an ankle injury in the first half vs. the Cardinals and is doubtful to return. Safety John Johnson III (shoulder) is questionable.
  • Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson did not return after suffering a quad contusion vs. the 49ers, per head coach Kevin O'Connell. Jefferson is considered day to day. Jefferson, who recorded a 97-yard TD in the first half of Sunday's game, told reporters he was not concerned about the injury. "I'm not seriously injured. So that's the main important thing," Jefferson said, per ESPN.com. "So it's just all about getting to the training room, making sure my body is right for next week and I'll be ready to go next Sunday."
  • New England Patriots linebackers Ja'Whaun Bentley (shoulder) and Oshane Ximines (knee) were ruled out against the Seahawks.
  • New Orleans Saints tight end Taysom Hill (chest) did not return against the Cowboys.
  • New York Giants kicker Graham Gano (hamstring) did not return against the Commanders.
  • New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley (foot) did not return against the Titans after taking a cart to the locker room. Linebacker Jermaine Johnson II is feared to have suffered a torn Achilles, per head coach Robert Saleh.
  • Seattle Seahawks linebacker Jerome Baker (hamstring) did not return against the Patriots.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Vita Vea is believed to have suffered a MCL sprain against the Lions, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported.
  • Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (ankle) did not return against the Jets.
