Adrian Peterson's first day in court has been delayed.
The Minnesota Vikings' star running back's initial court date concerning a charge of reckless or negligent injury to a child -- his 4-year-old son -- has been moved to Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. CT, the Montgomery County (Texas) District Attorney's office confirms to NFL Media. The arraignment will take place in the Ninth District Court.
Peterson was indicted Friday and faces up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted. He flew to Texas and turned himself in early Saturday morning to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and was released after posting a $15,000 bond.
The Vikings have deactivated Peterson until he settles his legal issues.
In a released statement on Monday, the running back wrote, "I never intended to harm my son. I will say the same thing once I have my day in court."
Peterson's arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday, but it was delayed to October because his attorney, Rusty Hardin, is out of the country this week.
