Adrian Peterson wants Percy Harvin to remain a Viking

The beef between Percy Harvin and the Minnesota Vikings seems destined for a bad ending -- a parting, at least.

Instant Debate: Best available star?

With trade rumors swirling and free agency looming, who is the best player available? Disgruntled Viking Percy Harvin? **More ...**

The Vikings reportedly are shopping Harvin, who plans to hold out without an extension. He's scheduled to make $2.9 million in the final year of his rookie deal. It's safe to say that Harvin, who was in the MVP discussion at one point last season, has outperformed the deal.

The man who did win the MVP, however, hopes things can be worked out.

"I don't know if we will or not, but me, individually and in my opinion, I wouldn't trade him," Adrian Peterson told KFAN-FM on Tuesday, via FoxSportsNorth.com. "No, I wouldn't trade him."

Harvin is the No. 2 threat on the Vikings' offense after Peterson. He's led the team in receptions and yardage the past three seasons and has developed into a multi-purpose weapon. The Vikings line him up in the backfield, use him heavily in the screen game and create opportunities to get Harvin touches in space. He was the 2009 Offensive Rookie of the Year, a Pro Bowl player and is dynamic in the return game. Harvin has had multiple incidents with coaches, but no off-field problems.

"To do the things that he's able to do, I don't think there will be a player that's able to do it better than him, ever," Peterson said. "The things he's able to do. He does so much. There will never be another player that can do it better than him.

"I think he's a good teammate. I always look at what you get from a person, and I know it comes with, 'Hey, you got to deal with this or you got to deal with that.' Or no matter what the situation is with that person, but I always feel like that person can overcome whatever it is they might be struggling with, whatever it is. I feel like a person can overcome. So whatever it is, I would work on it."

Peterson isn't helping the Vikings' cause, but why should he? There already are few playmakers on that side of the ball in Minnesota. He doesn't want to lose the little help there is. And Harvin is underpaid.
